President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for increased investment in Nigeria’s creative economy, saying the country must turn the global influence of its music, film, fashion and cultural industries into lasting economic opportunities. The President made the call as attention continues to grow around Nigeria’s influence in global entertainment and culture. According to the Federal Government, Nigeria’s creative industries have the potential to attract investment, create jobs and strengthen the country’s international cultural presence. Tinubu’s position places greater emphasis on moving beyond the global popularity of Nigerian creative works and building stronger economic structures around the industry. Nigeria’s music and film industries, particularly Afrobeats and Nollywood, have gained significant international audiences in recent years, while Nigerian fashion and other cultural exports have also continued to attract global attention. The President said the country should maximise this growing influence by encouraging investment and creating opportunities for young Nigerians working across the creative sector. The development comes as the government continues to highlight the creative economy as an important part of Nigeria’s broader economic diversification efforts. The Federal Government’s position is that stronger investment in the sector could help transform Nigeria’s cultural influence into jobs, businesses and sustainable economic activity.
