Mrs. Barrister Edwin Ugo, and the first of their three children. She had always been the kind of girl who loved making people laugh. But lately, her passion for comedy had become a serious problem at home.“Rachel! Where are you coming from by this ungodly hour?” her mother shouted.“Mummy, I went to shoot comedy with my friends.”“Comedy? Since you started this comedy thing, what use has it been to this family?” her mother fired back. “You, this girl, what happened to reading your books? Can’t you see your siblings?”Rachel remained silent.“I don’t want to ever see you outside with that useless comedy group again. Nonsense!”
Rachel walked quietly to her room.A few minutes later, her younger sister, Ruth, called her.“Sister Rachel.”“Why are you calling my name?”“Daddy is calling you.”Rachel froze for a moment before walking to her father’s room.“Yes, Daddy. You called me?”“Yes, I did. Have you gone to change your course from Theatre Arts to Law?”“Daddy, I don’t want to study Law.”“Will you shut your mouth! What do you know?”Rachel looked down.“How can the daughter of a titled man and a barrister say she wants to study Theatre Arts? Are you insane?”Her father continued.“You come from a prestigious family. Your mother is a medical doctor and runs a successful hospital. And the daughter of Edwin Ugo says she wants to study Theatre Arts?”Rachel tried to speak.“But Daddy“No buts!”“You scored an excellent JAMB score, and you want to waste it?”Rachel’s eyes became filled with tears.“By tomorrow morning, make sure you go and change that Theatre Arts course to Law.”She slowly nodded.“Yes, Daddy.”She walked out of the room. But what her father didn’t know was that Rachel had already made a decision.A decision that could change the entire Ugo family. And the next morning, she was going to do something nobody in that house expected.
