NSCDC Arrests 24-Year-Old Suspected Telecom Mast Vandal in Anambra



The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Anambra State Command has arrested a 24-year-old man suspected of vandalising and stealing equipment from a telecommunications mast in the state. The suspect was reportedly arrested in connection with the alleged vandalism of power installations and other equipment belonging to a telecommunications service provider. The arrest was disclosed by the Anambra State Command of the NSCDC on Friday. Telecommunications infrastructure remains critical to Nigeria’s communication network, with damage to masts and related equipment capable of disrupting mobile and internet services. Security agencies have continued to warn against the vandalism and theft of critical national infrastructure, particularly facilities connected to electricity, telecommunications and other essential services. According to the NSCDC, the suspect was apprehended during efforts to protect telecommunications infrastructure in the state.
