The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has restored its Central Admissions Processing System, commonly known as CAPS, after a temporary disruption that affected admission processing. JAMB announced the restoration as it urged tertiary institutions across the country to accelerate their admission processes and recover lost time ahead of the approved deadlines for the 2026/2027 academic session. The board said CAPS is now fully operational and advised institutions to take advantage of the restoration to continue processing admissions. Candidates seeking admission have also been urged to monitor their JAMB profiles and act promptly whenever admission offers are made available to them. Under the current admission timetable, public universities are expected to conclude their admission exercise by October 31, 2026. Private universities have until November 30, while other tertiary institutions have until December 31 to complete their admission processes. The restoration of CAPS is particularly significant for candidates who have been waiting for their admission status to be updated or for institutions to process their offers. CAPS serves as the platform through which JAMB manages and processes admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions. With the system back online, institutions are expected to intensify their admission activities as the academic session progresses. Candidates have consequently been advised not to ignore their JAMB profiles, particularly those expecting admission offers. Students who receive offers are expected to follow the required process to accept or reject their admission through the appropriate JAMB channel. The development is likely to bring some relief to candidates who had been concerned about delays in the 2026/2027 admission process. However, individual institutions may still have their own internal admission procedures and deadlines, meaning candidates are advised to monitor both their institution’s official announcements and their JAMB CAPS profiles.
