Completed Hostel Repairs Await AE-FUNAI Students as Management Sets New May 5 Reopening Date

Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI), has announced a 10-day extension for the reopening of campus hostels to ensure students return to fully renovated halls of residence.

Following approval from the Vice-Chancellor, the extension allows technical teams to finalize ongoing maintenance and repairs. The hostels, originally scheduled to open on April 25, will now officially welcome students back at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

The University clarifies that this 10-day delay applies strictly to hostel accommodation. The resumption date for the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic session remains unchanged. All students are expected to follow the existing academic schedule for lectures and administrative activities.

In a memorandum dated April 23, 2026, the Acting Dean of Students’ Affairs, Dr. Onyekachi Eni, urged students to adjust their travel itineraries to align with the new Tuesday opening time. The management emphasizes that this delay is a necessary step to ensure a standard living environment for the university community.
