Speaking from the UN podium, Milei argued that the organisation had moved away from the principles on which it was founded and accused it of failing to effectively address global conflicts, security and human-rights issues.
In one of the most striking moments of his speech, the Argentine president declared that the UN had become a “useless organization”, saying it served “a caste of fatally arrogant parasites disguised as well-intentioned bureaucrats.”

Milei renews Argentina’s Falklands claim
Beyond his broader criticism of the UN, Milei used the speech to renew Argentina’s long-standing claim to sovereignty over the Falkland Islands, known in Argentina as the Malvinas.
He accused the United Nations of “looking the other way” over the dispute between Argentina and the United Kingdom and argued that the organisation had failed to ensure compliance with previous resolutions concerning the islands.

The Falklands/Malvinas dispute has remained unresolved since Argentina and Britain fought a war over the islands in 1982.
Milei’s remarks have since attracted international media attention, particularly because they were delivered inside the United Nations itself, before representatives of member states gathered for the annual General Assembly.
His September 23 appearance marked his third address to the UN General Assembly, according to reporting on the speech.
