Army Foils Kidnap Attempt, Rescues Three Victims in Plateau


Troops of the Nigerian Army have foiled a suspected kidnapping operation in Plateau State and rescued three people who were reportedly targeted by the attackers. The incident occurred along the Sha-Daffo Road in Daffo District of Bokkos Local Government Area. According to the military, troops of Sector 5, Operation Enduring Peace, responded to a distress call concerning suspected kidnapping activities in the area at about 9:40 p.m. the troops reportedly moved quickly to the location, forcing the suspected kidnappers to abandon their operation and flee into the surrounding area. Three victims were subsequently rescued. They were identified as Haruna Rabiu, 42; Mary Joseph, 25; and Bridget Gideon, 29. The victims reportedly sustained minor injuries during the incident and were taken to a hospital for medical attention. The operation highlights the continued security challenges faced by communities and road users in parts of Plateau State. Security agencies have continued to conduct patrols and respond to distress calls in areas considered vulnerable to kidnapping and other criminal activities. The military said troops remained committed to denying criminal elements freedom of action and protecting residents and travellers. The latest incident also comes amid renewed national concern over kidnapping and insecurity, particularly along isolated roads and routes connecting rural communities.
