NELFUND Expands Student Loan Scheme, Extends Support to TVET Students Nationwide
The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has unveiled a nationwide expansion strategy aimed at increasing awareness and access to its student loan programme, as efforts intensify to support more Nigerian students pursuing higher education and vocational training.
The initiative, being implemented in collaboration with key stakeholders, including members of the National Assembly, seeks to broaden participation in the scheme and ensure that eligible students across the country can benefit from financial assistance without the burden of interest payments.
TVET Students Now Included in Expansion Drive
A major highlight of the expansion is the inclusion of students enrolled in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions. The move aligns with ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to strengthen skills development and create alternative pathways to employment and entrepreneurship.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the development, noting that technical and vocational institutions play a critical role in addressing Nigeria’s workforce needs and improving youth employability.
Nationwide Sensitization Campaign Underway
As part of the expansion programme, NELFUND has commenced sensitization activities across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones to educate students, parents, and institutional administrators about the benefits and application procedures of the loan scheme.
The campaign is expected to improve awareness, address misconceptions, and encourage more eligible students to take advantage of the funding opportunity.
Zero-Interest Loans for Eligible Students
The student loan programme provides eligible Nigerian students with access to financial support for tuition and other approved educational expenses. The scheme is designed to remove financial barriers that prevent many students from pursuing or completing their education.
NELFUND has repeatedly emphasized that the loans are structured to be accessible and student-friendly, with repayment arrangements intended to reduce financial pressure on beneficiaries after graduation.
Students Advised to Monitor Official Updates
Students interested in the programme are encouraged to regularly monitor the official NELFUND portal for updates regarding eligibility requirements, application procedures, participating institutions, and other programme developments.
As the scheme continues to expand, education observers believe it could play a significant role in improving access to higher education and vocational training for millions of young Nigerians.
For the latest updates and application information, prospective beneficiaries should rely on official NELFUND communication channels and announcements.
