Sule Lamido University Achieves 100% Accreditation Status as NUC Clears 36 Programs

Sule Lamido University (SLU), Kafin Hausa, Jigawa State, has reached a significant academic milestone following the official grant of full accreditation for six additional undergraduate programs by the National Universities Commission (NUC). This latest update, confirmed on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, solidifies the institution’s standing as all 36 undergraduate programs currently offered by the university now hold full accreditation status.

The newly accredited courses span critical technical and vocational fields, specifically targeting the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology and the Faculty of Agriculture. Key programs receiving the final seal of approval include Cyber Security and Software Engineering—two high-demand fields essential for Nigeria’s growing digital economy. Furthermore, several specializations within the Faculty of Agriculture also secured full status, reflecting the institution’s commitment to food security and modern farming research in the North-West region.

According to the university management, the NUC’s decision follows a rigorous assessment exercise that evaluated the institution’s facilities, faculty quality, and curriculum standards. Achieving a 100% accreditation rate is a rare feat that places SLU among the top-tier state-owned universities in Nigeria. This status ensures that graduates from every department are fully recognized for professional practice and postgraduate pursuits both locally and internationally.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the results, noting that the university will continue to invest in infrastructure and human capital to maintain these standards. For students and prospective applicants, this development guarantees academic stability and the assurance that their degrees are backed by the highest regulatory authority in the country. With this hurdle cleared, the university is now positioned to expand its academic offerings and explore new postgraduate programs in the coming session.
