Real Warri Pikin Speaks on AFRIMMA 2026 Win: “It’s a Reminder to Dream Bigger”

Nigerian comedian and actress Anita Alaire Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, has opened up about her 2026 AFRIMMA victory, describing the award as a powerful reminder to dream bigger and keep pushing the boundaries of her career. Real Warri Pikin won the Best Comedian award at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), held on September 12 at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas, Texas. Her victory came after she competed against several prominent comedians, including fellow Nigerians Basketmouth, Bovi and Godfrey, as well as Eric Omondi, Trevor Noah, Patrick “Salvado” Idringi and Ty Ngachira. Reflecting on the achievement, the comedian said the recognition meant much more than simply receiving an award. According to her, it represents years of hard work, persistence and continuing to show up even when the outcome was uncertain. Real Warri Pikin said being recognised as Best Comedian while representing Nigeria and Africa was a huge honour and a reminder that remaining authentic and using personal experiences to connect with audiences can create opportunities beyond expectations. The comedian also said the award has strengthened her determination to take her career to bigger platforms. “The reward for hard work is more work. For me, it is a reminder to dream even bigger.” She disclosed that her next major milestone is her London show scheduled for November 28 at Indigo at The O2, while revealing that other projects and events are also in the works. Real Warri Pikin has built a career spanning stand-up comedy, acting and digital content. She first gained significant attention through comedy skits and social media before establishing herself further on the stand-up comedy and live entertainment circuit. The AFRIMMA recognition adds another international milestone to her career. The 2026 AFRIMMA ceremony also saw several other Nigerian entertainers take home honours. Davido won Album of the Year for 5ive, while Tems and Ruger were named Best Female West Africa and Best Male West Africa respectively. Phyno won Best Male Rap Act, Fola took Best Newcomer, and Mercy Chinwo won Best Gospel. For Real Warri Pikin, however, the award appears to have become more than a trophy—it is now a fresh motivation to pursue bigger stages and continue creating work that connects with audiences in Nigeria, across Africa and beyond.
