Nigeria’s Super Eagles are stepping up preparations for their second Group L fixture of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea-Bissau, he Nigerian team began its qualifying campaign with a 2–1 comeback victory over Madagascar in Uyo on Friday.
Madagascar took the lead in the first half before Nigeria fought back to secure all three points.
Debutant George Ilenikhena scored to bring Nigeria level, while Moses Usor later produced the winning goal on his Super Eagles debut.
Usor’s goal came after he drove forward with the ball before finishing to complete Nigeria’s comeback. The result gave Nigeria an important start to the qualifying campaign ahead of the trip to Guinea-Bissau. Super Eagles coach Éric Chelle has not disclosed whether he will maintain the same tactical formation used against Madagascar. Nigeria started that match with a 4-4-2 formation before switching to 4-2-3-1 as the game progressed. The team is expected to continue preparations before facing Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday. The upcoming fixture will be Nigeria’s second Group L match in the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.
