Nigerian music video director TG Omori has opened up about the difficult health battle that kept him away from the spotlight, revealing the devastating physical, emotional and financial toll of his struggle with kidney failure.Speaking during an interview on the Afropolitan Podcast, Omori recounted how his health deteriorated despite treatment, eventually leaving him hospitalised for more than six months in Lagos. His younger brother eventually volunteered to donate a kidney, but the transplant failed after doctors discovered that the kidney was not functioning properly.Omori said doctors had to remove the transplanted kidney after discovering there was no blood flow to it. He subsequently returned to dialysis while another donor was sought. His brother was left with only one kidney following the donation. He said treatment at a private facility cost him between ₦150,000 and ₦200,000 per session, with patients sometimes requiring three sessions every week.He estimated that the cost could reach about ₦500,000–₦600,000 weekly, while a year of treatment and the eventual transplant could run into tens of millions of naira. Omori said he spent approximately ₦31 million on the transplant, excluding other medical expenses.
