“Who Gave You Audacity?” – Rep Chinedu Ogah Blasts Cubana Chief Priest, Asks EFCC To Probe Him Over Gov Nwifuru Comments

A fresh political drama is brewing in the South-East after popular socialite Pascal Okechukwu, better known as Cubana Chief Priest, clashed with Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru and was hit with a fiery response from federal lawmaker Hon. Chinedu Ogah. The controversy began days ago when Cubana Chief Priest publicly called on Governor Nwifuru to resign, questioning the level of development in Ebonyi State almost three years into his administration. In a viral video, the celebrity barman accused the Ebonyi governor of failing to deliver visible projects. He claimed Ebonyi was the only state in the South-East yet to experience “significant development” and alleged that the state’s leaders were “not wise enough” and still “living in the past.” Cubana also questioned why no major project in Ebonyi had been commissioned by President Bola Tinubu or other governors, demanding that Nwifuru “step down” if he could not deliver. However, records show that Governor Nwifuru’s administration has announced projects including road dualisation in Abakaliki, rural concrete roads, bridges in Ezza North and Ivo, 26 completed primary healthcare centres, upgraded hospitals, and a new diagnostic centre with MRI and CT scan facilities. The debate now centers less on whether projects exist and more on their scale, visibility, and economic impact compared to other South-East states. Rep Chinedu Ogah Fires Back, Demands EFCC Probe the comments did not sit well with Hon. Chinedu Ogah, who represents Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives. In an Instagram video posted on Wednesday, September 11, 2026, Ogah launched a scathing attack on Cubana Chief Priest and called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate him.”Who is Cubana Chief Priest? What does he do for a living? Who gave him the audacity to speak against the Ebonyi State Governor? Is it about drinking?”_ Ogah asked. The lawmaker went further, accusing the socialite of money laundering and alleging that he was part of a group trying to “discredit President Tinubu’s support in the South-East.” “Is it money laundering that he did that is making him speak against the governor? He arranged hoodlums to steal at the stadium and took all the things to his house. I urge the EFCC to investigate him; he is just a child; he is not yet up to 40,”Ogah stated. Cubana Chief Priest is no stranger to controversy. Just 16 hours ago, his EFCC case over alleged naira abuse was struck out after a settlement that included a ₦10 million payment to the Federal Government and a pledge to run bi-monthly anti-naira abuse campaigns. Politically, Cubana has positioned himself as a strong advocate for Igbo support for President Tinubu ahead of 2027, arguing that “Tinubu made Buhari president, he can make an Igbo president too.” He also recently declared interest in the APC House of Reps ticket for Orsu/Orlu/Oru East but later withdrew. Ogah’s outburst suggests growing tension between celebrities wading into governance issues and political office holders who feel their authority is being undermined.
