African cinema received international representation as the Africa International Film Festival, AFRIFF, participated in the inaugural Lumière Summit in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, France. The summit brought together major figures from the global film and entertainment industry to discuss the future of cinema and the rapidly changing moving-image sector. Nigeria was represented by the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, alongside AFRIFF founder Chioma Ude. AFRIFF’s participation provided an opportunity to highlight African filmmaking and the continent’s growing creative industry on an international platform. The summit also brought together global voices from different areas of cinema, creating room for conversations around the future direction of the industry. Nigeria’s presence at the event further placed African filmmakers and the country’s creative economy within a broader international film conversation.
