JACKIE CHAN DEATH HOAX ROCKS THE INTERNET AS FALSE REPORTS OF ACTION LEGEND’S DEATH GO VIRAL

A wave of false reports claiming that legendary actor and martial-arts star Jackie Chan has died has sent social media into a frenzy, prompting fans around the world to question the authenticity of the viral posts.
The 72-year-old actor is alive, and reports circulating online that he died in 2026 are false. Multiple reports published on September 29, 2026, identified the claims as a death hoax.
The latest rumour gained momentum after a memorial-style image showing Chan alongside the dates “1954–2026” began spreading across social media. The image was presented in a way that made it appear as though the celebrated actor had passed away.
The post quickly attracted millions of views, with one widely circulated version reportedly receiving more than 3.8 million views within five hours, before users began questioning its authenticity.
Fans react before the truth emerges
As the fake report spread, some social-media users began posting tributes to the Rush Hour and Police Story star, believing the claim to be genuine.
One viral post accompanying the false report read:
“Jacki Chan had passed the age of 71 now he’s 72, kung-fu legend.”
However, a community note attached to one of the widely shared posts directly challenged the claim, stating:
“The image in this post is styled as an obituary for Jackie Chan (1954-2026), but he is alive and active at age 72.”
Recent public appearance contradicts viral claim
Adding to the evidence that the death reports are false, Chan was publicly seen in Singapore in July 2026, when he made a surprise visit to Pei Chun Public School.
Reports say he interacted with students and staff and even sang his song “Hard to Say Goodbye” during the visit.
The actor remains an internationally recognised figure whose career has spanned more than six decades, with major films including Rush Hour, Police Story and Drunken Master.
The latest incident also highlights how quickly celebrity death rumours can spread online when memorial-style graphics are shared without verification.
For now, the reports are clear: Jackie Chan has not died. The “1954–2026” posts circulating online are part of a viral death hoax.
