AE-FUNAI Enhances Institutional Excellence with New Directorate of Ethics and Research Focus
Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AE-FUNAI) has signaled a transformative era in its history following the 2026 Annual Retreat held in Abakaliki. Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Professor Daniel C. Nwachukwu, the institution is repositioning itself as a globally competitive hub by prioritizing ethical leadership, high-impact research, and academic renewal.
The retreat, themed “Fallow Ground, Harvest, and Ethics in Higher Education,” served as a strategic platform to align the university’s mission with the evolving demands of global rankings and socioeconomic problem-solving.

A landmark outcome of the retreat was the formal establishment of the Directorate of Ethics. This move, advocated by keynote speaker and renowned ethicist Monsignor Professor Obiora Ike, aims to move ethics from theoretical discussion to a lived reality within the university.
