Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, have rescued six kidnapped victims in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. The victims were rescued around Gbise community on September 25 after troops reportedly received credible information about their release while conducting patrols in the area. The Acting Media Information Officer of the task force, Ahmad Zubairu, said the troops immediately mobilised to evacuate the victims to a secure location. The rescued persons were identified as Gabriel Enujuba, 50; Samson Magbo, 43; Alkasim Modu, 27; Manzo Bello, 27; Sani Abdullahi, 25; and Munza Yusuf, 25. According to the task force, five of the victims told troops during preliminary investigations that they had been abducted along the Chenchengi-Takum Road. The sixth victim, Yusuf, was reportedly taken from his residence in the Ahmadu General area of Takum Local Government Area of neighbouring Taraba State. The rescue comes amid continued security concerns along routes linking Benue and Taraba states. The military said it had intensified intelligence-led operations aimed at locating members of the kidnapping syndicate allegedly responsible for attacks in the area. It added that patrols and human intelligence gathering had also been strengthened around vulnerable communities and major routes. Security agencies have continued to carry out operations across parts of Benue in an effort to disrupt kidnapping networks and improve the safety of residents and travellers.
