Moniepoint Launches ₦3 Billion University Hub Project for Student Startups
Moniepoint Group has announced a ₦3 billion investment to establish innovation hubs across three federal universities in Nigeria as part of efforts to support technology education and student entrepreneurship.
The initiative will provide ₦1 billion to each selected institution over a three-year period for the development of technology-focused learning and innovation spaces.
Universities Selected for the Innovation Hub Project
The beneficiary institutions announced under the initiative are:
Obafemi Awolowo University
University of Nigeria, Nsukka
Ahmadu Bello University
According to the announcement, partnership agreements were signed with representatives of the universities during an event held at the OAU campus.
The project is expected to expand access to digital training resources for students across different regions of the country.
Focus Areas of the Innovation Hubs
Moniepoint stated that the hubs are expected to support practical training, collaborative learning, and innovation-driven activities for students.
The facilities will focus on areas such as:
software engineering,
artificial intelligence and machine learning,
robotics and data science,
product design,
and technology entrepreneurship.
Students participating in the programme are also expected to gain access to mentorship opportunities, collaborative workspaces, and industry-focused learning activities.
Internship and Industry Exposure Opportunities
In addition to infrastructure support, Moniepoint said members of its engineering and product teams will participate in training and mentorship activities connected to the hubs.
The initiative is also expected to create internship and project-based learning opportunities aimed at helping students develop practical digital and entrepreneurial skills.
The company described the project as part of its broader investment in technology development and digital talent growth within Nigeria’s higher education sector.
