Education or business? This is a question many young people ask themselves today. Some believe that going to school is the only way to become successful, while others believe that starting a business is a better path. But must we really choose one?
Education is important because it gives us knowledge, skills and exposure. It can prepare us for professions such as medicine, law, teaching and science. However, going to school does not automatically make a person intelligent or successful. A person can have a degree and still lack practical skills, creativity or good decision making.
On the other hand, doing business does not mean that someone is unintelligent or lacks knowledge. A business person can be highly intelligent, educated and knowledgeable. Business itself requires planning, communication, financial understanding, creativity and problem solving. Many successful entrepreneurs continue to learn and develop themselves even outside the classroom.
This is why education and business should not be seen as enemies. A person can attend school and run a business at the same time. Education can provide formal knowledge, while business can provide practical experience.
In the end, both education and business are good. What matters is a person’s mindset, dream, ability and determination. Some people are passionate about professional careers, while others are passionate about entrepreneurship. Some people may even choose to combine both.
Therefore, instead of asking, “Education or business?”, perhaps we should ask, “What is my dream, and which path will help me achieve it?”
Education is good. Business is good. Success depends on knowing yourself, developing your abilities and working towards your dream.
