AEFUNAI Students Urged to Exercise Caution Over Potential Water Contamination

Following reports of recurring health issues, students of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike (AEFUNAI) are being advised to exercise heightened vigilance regarding their sources of drinking and domestic water.

Several students have previously reported falling ill after consuming water from local sources. There are growing concerns regarding the integrity of water supplied to student residences, particularly concerning water fetched by local children.

Evidence has surfaced in various video footages showing some children within the Ikwo host community collecting water from soakaway pits and other contaminated environments. Students who rely on these local children to fetch water are advised to be cautious and to strictly verify the safety and origins of their water supply to prevent waterborne illnesses.
